Gds: AC Milan make €50m bid for forward duo

AC Milan are offering a total fee of €50 million to land Sassuolo forward duo Gianluca Scamacca and Domenico Berardi.

AC Milan are playing on several tables to restyle their attack for next season. The Rossoneri are in advanced talks for Dovick Origi but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will meet with Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali in the next days. AC Milan are seriously interested in Sassuolo duo Gianluca Scamacca and Domenico Berardi.

The Rossoneri are approaching this double negotiation with the awareness of being able to make competitive bids. AC Milan are offering €20 million for Domenico Berardi, who is Pioli’s top pick for the right wing, and €30 million Gianluca Scamacca reports Gazzetta dello Sport. That’s 50 million in total for the two Italy internationals.

Inter were the first club to come forward for Scamacca but the city-rivals can’t go beyond a loan with the option to make the transfer permanent. That’s a formula that Sassuolo do not want to take into consideration. In order to close this deal, Inter must sell one of their gems in attack, otherwise they cannot finance this investment.

AC Milan think they can enter the scene with a lower offer than Sassuolo’s expectations but with the freedom of being able to invest immediately. Sassuolo value Scamacca 40 million but so far no other club is willing to match their asking price. On the other hand, coach Stefano Pioli is a big admirer of Domenico Berardi. A fee of 20 million may be considered a bit low considering the winger’s performances.

However, AC Milan’s reasoning behind this figure is simple. Berardi will soon turn 28-years-old and has never played a single match in the Champions League. He is relatively unknow outside Italy with many foreign club hesitant to spend considerable fees for player’s who hasn’t played in European competitions. In addition, Berardi’s contract with Sassuolo expires in two years and this summer may represent Sassuolo’s only chance to get a decent fee for his services.
